Distance Learning

Traditional training and technical assistance venues may not always meet the unique needs nor serve the best interests of local Head Start and Early Head Start programs and staff.  It is not always possible for certain staff to be away from the program for days at a time, nor is it always financially feasible to send everyone that needs or deserves professional development to a seminar or conference.

As an advocate for professional development that is delivered in innovative and effective ways, T/TAS conducts a variety of high-quality training and technical assistance through such distance learning models as telephone conferencing, e-mail, and on-line forums.  No travel, no hotel expenses, and you may do the work from your office or home – often at a time that is convenient to your personal work schedule.

Because distance learning models offer immense flexibility for the participant, training often goes into greater depth over a longer period of time than is possible with traditional instruction models.  Many distance learning models also incorporate opportunities to establish a network of contacts that allows you to continue sharing issues and concerns with peers long after the training has ended, providing a greater return on your investment.

Distance learning is generally divided into two models, each of which may employ a variety of technologies to conduct technical assistance or training:

T/TAS continues to explore avenues for delivering distance learning that is of the highest quality, through models that are not only responsive to your needs and schedule, but also employ accessible and cost-effective technologies.
